2020 Calendar of Events
March 5-6-7. San Antonio, TX. Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP 2018). As usual, we’ll have a table where you can come by and meet us, grab a copy of Writing War: A Guide to Telling Your Own Story, or our literary journal O-Dark-Thirty. You’ll also find books by our editors and instructors for sale.
March 24. Charlotte, NC. Our director will present a multi-media piece called, “Trying to Catch Amnesia” about his experience using the creative arts as a vehicle to overcome PTSD symptoms. He will read from his memoir, Seriously Not All Right: Five Wars in Ten Years, and sing some of his award winning songs. Taylor-Talmadge Hall on the campus of Davidson University at 7pm. Free.
April 26. Kensington, MD. We will join with our friends the Memorial Day Writers Project to host presentations (including an open mic) for veteran readers and songwriters. Learn more at Kensington Book Festival.
June 20-21. Manteo, NC. We’re working with the North Carolina and Dare County Arts Councils to present our expanded songwriting workshop. Expect two-days of discussion and play focussed on the elements of the craft of songwriting including theory, harmony, song structure, lyrics, and more. This is a hands on workshop, so bring your (acoustic) instrument like a guitar or ukulele. But even if you don’t play an instrument, you’re still welcome to join. We’ll have mentors coming in from all over the country, so you’ll get lots of different tips and ideas. To register, contact Chris Sawin of the Dare County Arts Council at email@example.com.
*Other events will be added as they are scheduled. Please come back often to check.
