Borges Speaks

“The central fact of my life has been the existence of words and the possibility of weaving those words into poetry.”

Jorge Luis Borges, This Craft of Verse

We wrote a couple weeks ago that we were fans of free. Yea, verily, we like free. We wrote yesterday about learning about the craft and listed a few different ways to do that.

So today we’ll do a bit of a mash-up and point you to something free that can help you learn about the craft. Cool, yes?

Jose Luis Borges, the great Argentinian poet, died in 1986 at the age of 97. His body of work speaks for itself; but, alas he can no longer speak to us of his craft. Except through the miracle of these MP3 recordings of him delivering the Norton Lectures at Harvard in 1967 and 1968. And it’s free. Click through to ubuweb and listen to the master speak.
